Therapy for Consensual Non-Monogamy, Open Relationships & Polyamory

Build relationships where your needs, choices, and agreements have room to be honest.

You may be considering opening your relationship, navigating multiple partnerships, or questioning whether your current agreements still work for you.

Perhaps one partner wants more freedom while another needs more predictability. A new relationship has changed how time and attention are shared. Or you have talked through the agreements repeatedly, yet someone still feels unheard, pressured, or uncertain about where they stand.

At Couples Chat Therapy, I help individuals and partners understand what is happening, communicate their needs, and make thoughtful decisions about their relationships.

Struggling with an open or polyamorous relationship?

You may want non-monogamy and still feel hurt, jealous, or disconnected. You may also be questioning whether you want it at all. Therapy for open relationships and polyamory gives you space to address concerns like these:

  • Your partner wants to open the relationship, and you worry that saying no could mean losing them.
  • You want to explore non-monogamy, but conversations leave you and your partner feeling further apart.
  • Jealousy keeps returning, and reassurance is no longer helping.
  • You have different expectations about time together, sexual boundaries, or what to share about other partners.
  • A new partnership has left you feeling less important or unsure where you stand.
  • You agreed to something that no longer feels right, and you don’t know how to revisit it.
  • Secrecy or broken agreements have damaged your trust.
  • You are questioning whether your relationship structure works for you.

What would a more workable relationship look like?

It might mean knowing what you have agreed to and trusting that changes will be discussed. Being able to ask for connection without feeling ashamed. Having a clear conversation about another partnership. Or acknowledging that an arrangement you once accepted no longer works for you.

The goal is greater clarity, emotional safety, and consistency between what you agree to and how you live.

Frequently Asked Questions

Please reach us at hello@coupleschattherapy.com if you cannot find an answer to your question.

Not necessarily. I offer individual and relationship therapy for people navigating consensual non-monogamy, open relationships, and polyamory. During the consultation, we will discuss who is seeking support, the concerns you want to address, and who would participate. We will clarify the therapy arrangement and confidentiality expectations before beginning.

That difference needs an honest conversation. I will help each of you clarify what you want, what you can freely agree to, and where your needs may be incompatible. Therapy will not be used to persuade someone to accept a relationship structure they do not want.

Yes. Trust repair can be part of therapy for open and polyamorous relationships. We will clarify what was agreed to, what happened, and how it affected the people involved. Then we can address accountability, boundaries, and whether there are agreements everyone involved is willing to honor.
